Here are some things I've never participated in before but hope to do on a regular basis

Monday Mission

1. Since we've covered the standard "where do you go when you die" question, let's get a little deeper. When you do die, would you like to be able to watch your funeral? Not sure

2. Catholics must have the longest funeral services ever. I think there is a lot to be said for the traditions that they keep, but it was just so depressing. I'd like my funeral to be much more upbeat, like those I've seen in New Orleans. What type of funeral would you plan for yourself? A short one. But I think like my parents I don't want a funeral.

3. As a child, when I was angry sometimes I would wish that a parent or teacher would die. Thank goodness wishes like those are never granted. I think it probably takes the loss of someone important before you learn the value of life. When did you first realize that life was so fragile? When my grandma died.

4. When we said our final respects to Grandma H. today, I though about her impact on the world. No, she didn't cure cancer or make sweeping changes to society. But she did leave a legacy of four sons and a daughter, who in turn have children and grandchildren. And maybe that was her purpose, to launch future generations that will accomplish great things. Some of us are here to make a huge splash in the pond of life, others are here to direct the ripples in the water. Of the people you've known personally who have passed away, what sort of legacy, impact, mark or achievement did they leave behind?  My manners, my belief system etc.

5. One thing that struck me at the funeral, was that there were so many men were dressed in casual clothes. I was brought up to believe that men should always wear a suit to a funeral, as a show of respect. Maybe these men were never taught that. Maybe they just don't own suits. Maybe that I am just old fashioned and not hip to the times. Do you think there is an "appropriate" way  to dress for attending a funeral? Or is it even important? Yes. In black and kind of dressy

6. Grandma H. was far enough along in life to have been able to plan ahead for her funeral, even down to the tiny details such as song selections. It was nice to finally attend a funeral where they didn't play "Amazing Grace!" My choices would be "Ode to Joy" and "I'll Fly Away." What are some of the more memorable songs you've heard played at funerals? I like amazing grace actually.

7. I've been craving some home-made pickles for years now. Not just any, but the kind my dear Great randmother made. It's been over 20 years since she died, but I can still remember just how her dill pickles taste. No one in the family has even attempted to make them since. Today at the funeral I overheard someone wishing that they had asked Grandma H. for her home-made noodle recipe but now it was too late. Do you have any favorite foods that only one relative made, and the recipe died with them? no

BONUS: Is it true, all of those things that they say about you? of course!

Today's Comment Question: Do you like pickles? If so, what kind? yes. dill

Two for tuesday

1. I always .....eat

2. I never ....sleep enough

and bonus

3. I sometimes ....

4. What if you could be one type of tree? Acorn

5. What if could have invented one thing from history (telephone, car, et cetera)? Computer

Thursday Thumb Twiddler

1. You've been given $1 million to give anonymously to either charity or to a stranger. What would you do? Donate most of it and give the rest to a stranger

2. If the owner of a local gas station were caught dumping fifty gallons of used motor oil into the local storm sewer, what do you think the penalty should be? What if it were your neighbor dumping a single gallon? gas station owner -same as anyone. Neighbor. small fine

3. Over the course of your life, what have you probably spent more time pondering than anything else? The meaning of life.

Thursday Threesome

Onesome: Lights- Did you watch the lights of Hollywood at the Academy Awards the other night? ...and were you surprised by any of the winners. ...or did you spend the evening doing something else?

Didn't watch. but I am glad that Chicago won lots of awards. I still want to see that movie

Twosome: Camera- Do you enjoy photography? ...and do you take pictures for your web site if you have one? Hmmm... Digital or film? Inquiring minds and all that... I enjoy it but don't do it enough. I put some pics up on my site. Film for now.

Threesome: Action- For some, March Madness has begun. Have you succumbed to the action of the basketball tournament, or are you immune to the madness and just waiting for regular programming to resume? Well, I was until Arizona lost to Kansas by 3 f---ing points today! If MSU wins then I'll watch next weekend. If not then I won't.

Saturday Scruples

received as a tip. Normally tips are pooled but you kept this one. Do you share the money? Yes

2. Your dad's dying wish is to be buried in his homeland. The expense will take most of your inheritance. Do you obey the request? Yes.

3. You own a supermarket. Genetically altered fruits and vegetables are popular but no one knows for sure if the are safe. Do you sell them? No not until they are safe like organically grown ones.

What are you carrying around?

What are you carrying in your purse ladies? Yup, everything, from that lipstick you keep meaning to replace to how many pictures you have of your kids or family in your wallet. Keys, nail file? All credit cards, ID cards, and the bills and change too.

Guys, you aren't off the hook. We know you shove tons of change in your pocket and play with it to annoy us! Tell us what you have in your wallet, how many keys are on your key chain? How much change do you have in that pocket? What else do you carry? Cell phone? Yup, everything please.

I carry my wallet with all my cards, money, spare car key etc, Kleenex, gum, tic-tacs, nail file, band-aids, lip-stick, cell phone (sometimes), sunglasses, keys, pepper spray and whistle. I also carry a bookbag with me that has my pager and my cell phone (when it's not in my purse), my work id, my organizers, a steno pad, an umbrella, a book and whatever I else I need to take to work that day.

My parents worked in my yard this weekend

I had lunch with a friend yesterday

I got tickets to the art exhibition at the phoenix art museum

I finished cleaning inside the house

The house is done inside and my parents did yardwork for me today. I just need to sweep up outside and I will be done. We just added DVD's to our collection at work today. I checked out 2 before our patron's could.
